Rings of Ganymede by Kendall Evans
TAKE HEED, TOLKIEN! BEWARE, WAGNER!
THERE’S A NEW RING CYCLE IN TOWN!
This tale is multifaceted; but Evans has written it so you can grasp what’s going on without feeling out-of-place. Conversely, for those who appreciate dimensions, he’s modeled his story from one of the 19th century’s greatest opera’s, Wagner’s Ring Cycle, while also incorporating various mythologies (Valkyrie, mermaidens and mermen, Greek and Roman gods), modern day references (note the reality game show at the beginning), and a brilliant sense of human survival, and more impressively optimism, throughout. Evans has created a truly great play. One that appeals to multiple audiences; from the traditional theatre-goer to the sci-fi audience. Enjoy the show.
