Anger is, or can be, the most legitimate emotion. It is difficult to deal with yet it is important and we must acknowledge anger. Shelly embraces it. Instead of dismissing or hiding, she squarely deals with it. I believe Shelly Bryant is a poet who embraces the world. She has a western background but her adult life is taking place in the East. Her voracious reading across the regions and the times defines a large part of the poet. Her talent in Chinese-to-English translation adds another dimension to her intellectual, psychological and physical world.
