A comet has been sighted on an impact trajectory with Earth and all efforts to avert the disaster have failed. The small town of Wroxeter, Tennessee, has turned to survival mode, converting the local salt mine to a shelter. Only about half to two thirds of the town will be able to fit in due to space and estimated food requirements. On the night that the comet is to strike, the community gets together for a potluck feast together to say goodbye to those preselected for their skill sets and to draw names for the remainder. It is guaranteed that representatives of each family and group within the town will be saved. It’s too bad, of course, that everyone won’t make it in. These are the stories of those who made it, and those who didn’t.
